Open theme.

Awards:

Each winning photographer will be awarded $1,000 and a 2012 Photography Portfolio. The curator’s choice photographer will receive $500 and an individual print. Winning photographs will be exhibited at the Philadelphia Museum of Art in fall 2012.

Jurors: photographer Andrea Modica, photography critic Vince Aletti, and Peter Barberie.

Artists whose work has been selected will be notified on or about July 31, 2012.

LANDSCAPE/NATURE: Scenic photos that show the beauty of blossoms and the trees at and around the Tidal Basin PEOPLE: Images showing crowds or individuals enjoying and engaging with the cherry blossoms FESTIVITIES: Action-filled images of the National Cherry Blossom Festival and its relevant events that take place outside the Tidal Basin, such as the Opening Ceremony, Southwest Waterfront Fireworks Festival, National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade, and performances. VINTAGE: Images taken from the 1930 to 12/31/1999. Images can be scanned and moderately retouched.

An esteemed panel of industry professionals selects five photographers per round of competition as the 2011 Hot Shots. From these Hot Shots, one image maker will be selected by Jen Bekman Projects to win the grand prize of $10,000, in addition to the hallmark awards that are offered.  The grand prize recipient is also awarded:  A solo exhibition at Jen Bekman Gallery Representation from Jen Bekman Gallery for two years, commencing with his/her selection  And EACH Hot Shot earns:  A $500 honorarium Participation in the 2012 Hot Shot Exhibition at Jen Bekman Gallery  The opportunity to release an edition on 20×200  Additionally, ALL entrants are reviewed for participation in 20×200 (www.20×200.com), have the chance to be featured as a Contender on the Hey, Hot Shot! blog and receive ample opportunity for online exposure on Facebook, Flickr and Twitter.

Photo Factory?s Open Now Photo Exhibition

Open Now is the Photo Factory’s annual open exhibition showcase.

There is no set theme and photographers are invited to submit personal work undertaken recently, of any subject, style or genre.

Exhibition:

Open Now will be exhibited twice, once in Belfast (from 3rd – 24th May 2012) and once in Dublin.

Judges: Donovan Wylie (Magnum), Trish Lambe and Tanya Kiang (Gallery of Photography, Dublin).

Successful entrants will be notified by Friday 23rd  March 2012 and will be required to provide high quality, unmounted archival prints, 24 inches on the longest side (to include a two inch white border).

The Awards are not themed so all photographic images are welcome

Theme: Spontaneous

Spontaneity is the hallmark for great documentary and street photography where the moments of life, often ironic, poignant, emotionally charged, tragic or absurd are frozen. Many of the scenes captured by practitioners of this art, with the possible exception of war and extreme sports documentary, pass before us every day, but we do not see. This exhibit is dedicated to those who strive to see, realize and then manifest vision and moment into an image so that we can all see what is right in front of us or inaccessible in some other way. Showing us the remarkable moments that make up the, often unconscious, Human Experience.

Exhibition dates: 22 March - 15 April 2012

Awards:

All selected entries are exhibited in our gallery and included in a full color exhibit catalog. Juror’s Choice receives a 20×35" vinyl exhibit banner featuring their image. People’s Choice gains free entry into a future exhibit. Free matting and framing of accepted entries are offered for the duration of each of our exhibition, subject to standard sizes.
